Performance with a unique look: this describes the Macan GTS, the distinctly sporty model launched to enhance the compact SUV series. The Macan GTS stands out with its powerful engine, performance-oriented chassis, distinctive design and comprehensive range of equipment. Its 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine delivers 324 kW (440 PS). When combined with the standard Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and optional Sport Chrono Package, the Macan GTS can sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 272 km/h.
At Porsche, ‘GTS’ stands for Gran Turismo Sport. Its outstanding driving dynamics are one of the things that earned the Macan model its GTS badge. The range of standard equipment exclusive to the Macan GTS includes height-adjustable sport air suspension with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adaptive damper control system. These features lower the Macan GTS by a further 10 mm in comparison to the optional air suspension on the Macan and Macan S models. The suspension and damping have both been optimised to work with the optional GTS Sport Package and the associated performance tyres. Alongside further modifications to manage body movement, the performance tyres quickly build lateral grip, which has a positive effect on the driving experience. Increased spring stiffness, larger anti-roll bars and specialised dampers all help to further decrease body pitch and roll as well as reduce rebound movement. In combination with the 10 mm reduction in ride height, these modifications result in a clearly noticeable improvement in lateral dynamics and performance.
Generously sized grey cast-iron brakes with red brake callipers enable safe braking. The Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) with 390 x 38 mm front discs and 356 x 28 mm rear discs is a standard feature of the Macan GTS. A tungsten carbide coating – a material that is around 10 times harder than grey cast iron – increases braking performance and reduces brake dust formation. As an alternative, drivers can configure the Macan GTS with the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB). The top-of-the-range Macan model features 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels in Satin Black as standard.
The powertrain in the Macan GTS is a key reason for its leading position within the model line: the 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine delivers 324 kW (440 PS) and provides a maximum torque of 550 Nm. This power is available across a wide range between 1,900 and 5,600 rpm. From a standing start, the Macan GTS reaches the 100 km/h mark in 4.5 seconds: this sprint can be achieved in just 4.3 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package. The vehicle's top speed is 272 km/h, making the ever-agile GTS the fastest derivative of the model line and the sportiest Macan ever built. In addition to its increased power output, the powertrain of this flagship model offers classic GTS characteristics in terms of responsiveness and power development.
For example, the all-wheel drive of the Macan GTS has been tuned to make it especially dynamic. In every driving situation, as much drive torque as possible is delivered to the rear wheels, because the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) centre differential prioritises the rear axle whenever it can. This progressive, rear-biased powertrain design allows the forcus of the front wheels to be on steering the vehicle and therefore improves the car’s potential cornering speed.
The driving experience offered by the Macan GTS is enhanced by the sound from the standard sports exhaust system, which has been specifically adapted for the GTS model. The exhaust system creates a dynamic and striking sound, and features extended sports tailpipes in Black, ensuring that it fits seamlessly into the model's exterior design based on black accents.
The Macan GTS comes with the Sport Design Package as standard – another feature that visually emphasises the uniquely sporty character of this vehicle. The top-of-the-range model can be identified by its dark-tinted LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and the dark-tinted, three-dimensional rear lights with LED light strip, both of which are standard features. Alternatively, LED headlights in Black with PDLS Plus are available as an option. The front and rear bumpers are painted in the vehicle colour while the front trim is finished in Black. The tailpipes of the sports exhaust system, the diffuser and the twin-wing roof spoiler are also Black, in keeping with the classic GTS look.
The interior of the Macan GTS is characterised by special circular instruments, including a black rev counter with the ‘GTS’ logo, which also features on the Sports seats. High-quality materials in the interior showcase the sporty yet elegant aspirations of these compact SUV models: for example, Race-Tex is used for the seat centres, the armrests on the centre console and the door panels, and brushed aluminium is used elsewhere. The multifunction sports steering wheel with a smooth leather rim and shift paddles is standard equipment, as are the sports seats with eight-way adjustment and pronounced side bolsters for stable support during dynamic cornering. These seats are exclusive to the GTS model.
Drivers have the choice of numerous other options for customising the vehicle interior, such as the GTS leather upholstery in Carmine Red or Crayon, additional Race-Tex features and colour accents, the BOSE® Surround Sound System and a smartphone compartment with inductive charging function. The adaptive cruise control including Traffic Jam Assist, Park Assist with reversing camera and Surround View, a heated windscreen and ioniser are also available for extra safety and comfort.
Porsche offers another dynamic enhancement that is exclusive to the Macan GTS: the GTS Sport Package. This package includes the Sport Chrono Package, the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) system and Pirelli P Zero Corsa performance tyres. The electronically controlled, fully variable differential ensures that more drive torque reaches the rear wheel on the outside of a bend and therefore noticeably benefits cornering ability. The enormous traction provided by the high-performance tyres developed especially for the Macan and their outstanding performance on dry roads ensures that the GTS model can hold its own on the racetrack. The tyres perform well on wet road surfaces, too.
The GTS Sport Package also includes extensive modifications to the interior and exterior: the front and rear bumper, exterior mirror housing and the side skirts are painted in Black while the side blades with GTS logo are finished in Python Green – the exterior colour reserved for Macan GTS vehicles with a Sport Package. Inside these vehicles, the driver and front passenger sit on 18-way adaptive Sports eats, which feature ‘GTS’ logos on the headrests, more extensive leather details on the seats, additional contrast stitching in Python Green, illuminated door sill tread plates and Python Green seat belts.
