The Porsche Museum is an ideal place for exciting discoveries and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. It is a place that permits a direct encounter with automotive history and its achievements.
The Porsche Museum takes school children and teachers on a journey of discovery full of variety. Groups are able to choose between general school tours (suitable for all ages) and themed “Team Spirit” sessions for secondary school pupils.
Museum expands digital offering for young visitors
Under the topic “Mission Future Heritage”, the Porsche Museum will increase its use of modern communication channels to convey Porsche heritage and its experience in car manufacturing. As an extracurricular place of learning, the Museum is now also making its educational material for younger visitors available digitally. The new “Team Spirit” app has the four main themes of “Aerodynamics and lightweight construction”, “Engine technology”, “Automotive design” and “Electric mobility”, and is aimed at pupils in years 5 to 12. Young people can work in teams in the Museum, using the app on the provided iPads to solve various tasks that are related to the company's history, product range and technological developments. In close collaboration with the publisher Klett MINT, the app’s content has been aligned to the educational curriculum for Baden-Württemberg. A “Team Spirit” session lasts 90 minutes and costs 75 euros for a class of up to 30 pupils. More information hier.
Porsche Team Spirits
Specialist knowledge in simple terms
With the “Team Spirits”, the Museum gives school pupils a deeper understanding of the world of cars. The exhibition therefore, provides a very useful out-of-school learning environment. There are four fascinating “Porsche Team Spirits” to choose from. Their content is individually designed for school children in different years: Automotive Design, Engine Technology, Aerodynamics and Lightweight Construction and Electric Mobility.
Porsche Team Spirit Automotive Design
The “Team Spirit Automotive Design” invites pupils to learn more about the Porsche DNA based on the Porsche models. It examines the question of what characteristics make a Porsche easily recognisable, even for young children. During the Team Spirit session, pupils take a creative approach to the areas of brand identity, vehicle contours and design development. They are given an insight into the way designers work. At the end of the session, the groups present their results from the Team Spirit workshop.
Porsche Team Spirit Engine Technology
Against a backdrop of 30,000 PS, pupils investigate together with a guide how an engine is built and what characteristics make up a Porsche engine. Together with a guide, they learn about rear-, mid- and front-mounted engines as well as air and water cooling. They also gain an insight into Porsche’s hallmark boxer and turbo engines. Pupils get the chance to apply what they have learnt in various tasks on the iPads provided and present this at the end of the session.
Porsche Team Spirit Aerodynamics and Lightweight Construction
This Team Spirit provides pupils with an overview of the different materials used in vehicle construction. Aerodynamics and material science have always made it possible to realise high speeds while also reducing consumption. Aerodynamic aids are presented to the pupils. They can then try these out with different shapes and Porsche models in a scale model of a wind tunnel. With this approach, they get to discover the aerodynamic effect of the different materials.
Porsche Team Spirit: Electric Mobility.
Questions relating to electric mobility are explained in this Team Spirit. The pupils learn when the history of electric motors began and why the electric drive was not able to establish itself 100 years ago. They also find out how a combustion engine and an electric motor work.
