Delicate history: Meissenblue is a historic Porsche colour that was offered as a standard colour on the 356 A in the late 1950s. The colour codes of the classic pastel shade are 5703 and Reutter 703. The special shade of blue is named after the German city of Meissen, which is famous for the fine porcelain produced there. The Meissen porcelain factory first developed the shade Meissenblue in the 18th century; the light blue colour is particularly popular for coffee porcelain. Meissenblue is often also called 'Powderblue' or 'Delftblue' and is slightly greyer than Gulfblue. The light blue shade is a soft, muted hue with subtle grey undertones that convey delicate and calm qualities. Meissenblue is not as vibrant as other shades of blue, but it conveys a wistful vintage feeling and carries a certain restraint. As a light shade of blue, Meissenblue harmonises with red tones or neutral colours such as white, cream or beige.
