Porsche traditionally supports the work of charitable organisations through the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix’s Aces for Charity campaign. For every ace hit during the tournament, the sports car manufacturer will donate 100 euro. The donation will this year again be divided up equally between the “Stiftung Agapedia” foundation and the regional “Landessportverband Baden-Württemberg” sports association. It will be used for projects for refugees from Ukraine.
A charity partner of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix since 2007, Stiftung Agapedia provides educational and integrational assistance for needy children and those with mixed ethnicity at its children’s centre in Esslingen. They are given meaningful after-school leisure activities organised by qualified personnel. In addition to homework supervision, these activities include sport and games and creative arts. The focus of the project financed this year by the Aces for Charity campaign is on caring for in part traumatised Ukrainian child refugees and their relatives.
The biggest association of individuals in the state of Baden Württemberg with its 3.7 million members and approximately 11,000 clubs, the Landessportverband Baden-Württemberg will this year support elite Ukrainian athletes that have been forced to flee their country. They will be provided training facilities by the association as well as quick and unbureaucratic help in dealing with the upcoming challenges. The focus will be on children and adolescents in performance sport as well as coaches and their families.
At the total of 260 aces were sent down at the 2021 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Karolina Pliskova played a big part in the resulting excellent donation as the 2018 Stuttgart winner served 21 aces alone in her match against Jelena Ostapenko. It set a new record for clay courts.
