Porsche 911 Turbo 2.7 Coupé

This first 911 Turbo is one-off. Porsche presented it to Louise Piëch on the occasion of her 70th birthday on 29 August, 1974. At first glance, this very special sports car differs from the 911 Turbo models that roll to the Porsche dealers from early 1975. The narrow body without the typical turbo-flares originates from the 911 Carrera. The badge on the engine lid reads “Carrera” instead of “Turbo”. Another special feature of this 911: only the side and rear windows are tinted. A passionate painter, Louise Piëch’s view of the natural colours through the windscreen should not be impeded during her excursions through the Austrian mountains. The tacho reaching up to 10,000 rpm is an acknowledgement to the 911 RSR Turbo 2.1 as the first turbo-charged 911 that scored a sensational second overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 1974. A plaque on the glove compartment bears the initials LP and the inscription: Turbo-Porsche No.1, Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, 29. Aug. 1974.
